If you are using Java through FireFox web browser: FireFox March 2017 update 'kills' Java plugin.
Per information on www.java.com: "Beginning with Firefox 52 (March 2017 release), Java plugin is no longer supported on FireFox and Chrome". "Plug-in support for FireFox is limited to Adobe Flash, and drops support for NPAPI, impacting plugins for Java, Silverlight, and other similar NPAPI based plugins."
You can still use Java, however, with Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer is still present in all Windows versions, even Windows 10. To open Internet Explorer on Windows 10, first use their default web browser 'Edge' and after going to gamecolony.com, select Edge's menu (three dots) followed by "Open with Internet Explorer".
Also a warning: There soon will be a newer Java 9. If you want your Java plugin to keep working, DO NOT INSTALL a newer Java 9 version. You need to make sure that Java does not update itself automatically without your consent. On Windows you can do it via Control Panel->Java->Update - un-select "Check for updates automatically".

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
